Batch #54 Red Wine - Bordeaux 91% New Oak Medium Toast 9% La Trappe Quadrupel Oak Aged Batch 54 has been aged for over 3.5 years in oak red wine barrels from the Bordeaux region of France. These so-called Bordelaise barrels originate from a region renowned worldwide for its powerful and complex red wines, made from grapes such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. The long aging in these wine barrels has given the beer a deep chestnut brown color – considerably darker than the regular Quadrupel. When pouring, the delicate, beige head stands out, with exceptionally fine carbon dioxide bubbles. The aroma immediately reveals a pleasant vanilla aroma, derived from the oak. A rich palette of walnuts, figs, plums, and a subtle hint of leather unfolds. The taste is full and rounded, with a refreshing acidity that elegantly transitions from the wine into the beer.
