SOLD Helen with her Rose, Early 19th Century B. Bramell Hand-colored Block Print, Original Frame and Glass
I purchased this from the same dealer as the 19th century "Walk on roses" glass encased forget-me-not also listed today, and might guess they came from the same collection--surely someone who loved their flowers, and maybe she was a Rose herself! My photos don't do justice to the frame, especially, here, but this is very much about the whole package:hand-colored print and frame and original thin blown glass in the frame, too--and it is a strikingly lovely thing. And an early one, the print published by B. (Benjamin) Bramell (American, 1794-1851) in Philadelphia, first quarter 19th century I believe. Wonderful face, wonderful blue of her dress, bonnet laid to one side and bush of blooming roses to the other. And the frame, in gorgeous condition, with a bit of redness to the stain, wire hanging hook, jointed corners, wooden back, and original glass, is itself is worth the price, a beauty.
7 7/8" x 7 1/4" framed. Excellent condition in all regards.
